Women's Soccer Opens Home Slate Against Alabama And TCU

The Week Ahead: After playing its first four games on the road, the Oklahoma State soccer squad returns to Stillwater on Friday to host Alabama at 7 p.m. at the Cowgirl Soccer Complex. The Cowgirls will then battle TCU on Sunday at 1 p.m. to close out the homestand.
About Alabama: The Crimson Tide is the last of three SEC opponents the Cowgirls will face in 2000. Alabama enters the contest with a record of 3-1 after opening the season with three consecutive wins. The Crimson Tide owns victories over Louisiana-Monroe, Southern Mississippi and Jacksonville State. Miami handed Don Staley's crew its first loss of the season last Sunday. The Crimson Tide is led by midfielder Katie Holtzapfel. The freshman has started in each of Alabama's four games, tallying nine points on four goals and one assist. In net, Latonda Eubanks has four starts, amassing five saves and giving up two goals. Junior Tasha Denecke has also logged significant minutes, totaling eight saves and surrendering one goal. Alabama leads the all-time series with OSU 1-0 after defeating the Cowgirls 3-0 a year ago.
About TCU: David Rubinson's Horned Frogs have posted a 3-2 record, earning wins over Texas Tech, Houston and Centenary. Both of TCU's losses have come at the hands of a pair of Big 12 squads, Baylor and Texas. The Horned Frogs will square off against Arkansas on Saturday in Fayetteville before traveling to Stillwater. Offensively, TCU is led by sophomore Sherry Dick. The forward has notched three goals and an assist on the season. Shannon Wagner has gone the distance in net for TCU, amassing 450 minutes and 37 saves while giving up seven goals.The two teams met a year ago in OSU's season finale. The Cowgirls got goals from Missy Moss and Emily Polan en route to 2-1 victory in the teams' first-ever meeting.
Last Week: For the second consecutive weekend, the Cowgirls split a pair of games. On Friday, OSU opened the LSU Invitational with a 3-1 setback against Mississippi. In the loss, sophomore midfielder Kelly McKay netted the first goal of her career on an assist from senior Andi Lute. The Cowgirls got back on the winning track with a 2-0 win on Sunday over the tournament's host school, Louisiana State. Freshman Kim Graves scored the game winner on an assist from fellow newcomer Joanne Edwards in the game's 48th minute. Senior Andi Lute got into the scoring column 15 minutes later to provide the game's final margin. Sophomore Katharine Doud manned the nets for the Cowgirls, recording six saves.
