Cowgirl Soccer Falls To Kansas 1-0

OLATHE, Kansas. -- Oklahoma State's soccer squad dropped its fifth consecutive contest, losing 1-0 to Kansas at the Olathe District Activities Complex on Sunday.
With the loss, the Cowgirls fell to 3-7 overall and 0-2 in the Big 12. The Jayhawks rose to 5-5 and 1-1.
KU's Brianna Valento scored the game's lone goal when she converted a corner kick from Melanie Schroeder in the game's 55th minute. The goal was Valento's second of the season.
The two squads battled to a draw in the first half before KU turned up the offensive pressure in the second half. The Jayhawks outshot the Cowgirls 17-2 in the second half and fired 26 shots in the game to OSU's eight.
Goalkeeper Katharine Doud kept the contest close for the Cowgirls, turning away several point-blank shots by the Jayhawks. The sophomore notched 13 saves on the afternoon, including 10 in the second half.
The Cowgirls will be back in action on Sept. 29 when they take on the Colorado Buffaloes in Boulder at 5 p.m.
