2000 OSU Football Postgame Quotes vs. Southwest Texas, Sept. 15, 2000
OSU Coach Bob Simmons
On the team's performance: "I thought the defense played awfully well. The goal was to get a shutout. They did that. I was disappointed with how we played offense. I thought that we would lose the ball between the 20s. And when we got into the zone where we needed to score points, either we fumbled or we had a penalty. It was very similar to last week. I don't think we scored the second half. We have to go back and look at what we are not doing inside the 20 yard line. I was pleased with what we were doing going up and down the field, but when we get in that area, we need to put touchdowns on the board.
"We hit some big plays, which was impressive. But in that scoring area, between the 20 and the 30 (yard lines), against good teams, you have to put points on the board. I wish I could bottle a formula of emotion when you play an opponent that you are supposed to win against. If anybody's going to bottle that, please give it to me because there isn't a coach around that has found that yet.
"We wanted to come out and play a little bit better than we did. We were flat the second half. We came out and it was all I could do just to keep my composure.
"During the course of the game, I thought that we would win, but I wanted to have a better performance and a better execution. "
On Seth Condley's performance: "The player of the game, as far as I am concerned, is Seth Condley. He's the one who put the points on the board. He did it last week and he did it this week.
But we're going to have to have touchdowns.

OSU Players
Tony Lindsay
On the win "We'll take a win, but overall we played very sloppy. We came out the first two or three drives and played okay. We scored on the first one. Then we got real lackadaisical. We were walking up to the line lazily and wasted time on the play clock. Things didn't go the way we wanted them to, but we're happy we came out with a win."
On Reggie White "He ran hard and had a couple of turnovers, but besides that he's running hard and doing the things he's able to do. He just has to hang on to that ball."
Dwayne Levels On the defense's performance "I thought we played excellently. We played with a lot of emotion and a lot of effort. That's one thing we really pride ourselves on. Especially at home, you want to start off your homestand with a good game and a shutout. The objective of every game is to come out and pitch a shutout, and we accomplished that. They got a couple of yards on us on a play or two, and we didn't let down. We came back even stronger and held up."
On bright spots "Our defensive line was quick and moved to the ball. Our linebackers fought. Our defensive backs were breaking up passes and making good plays. Overall, the whole defense was a bright spot tonight."
2000 OSU Football Postgame Quotes vs. Southwest Texas, Sept. 16, 2000
Southwest Texas Coach Bob DeBesse
Thoughts on the Game "I am extremely proud of our kids for obvious reasons. We came in here and stood toe-to-toe. We fought really, really hard in all three phases. I thought our defense put on a pretty good show. They came up with some pretty good plays in scoring territory to keep them out of the end zone. That is really encouraging for us. We came up short offensively and that is the thing that scared me the most, our line against their front seven. They are athletic and they are quick. They have some great players up there and they got the best of us. I take my hat off to Coach Simmons, his staff and their players. I thought it was a hard-fought football game."
On What His Team Will Learn From the Game "We didn't come up here just to play, we came up here to win. Oklahoma State would expect that from us as competitors. We can grow from this and we can learn from this. I think this will make us a better football team down the road. Playing in front of this great crowd and playing against great athletes will make us a better team come conference play."
On a Possible Move Up in Class "It is not a bad start. I don't think anyone can fault the heart and the effort we showed. We knew it was going to be a fantastic challenge. In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't have much impact on what happens three or four years down the road, but it is part of the process and a step we have to take. We have aspirations to play at the highest level and this is something we have to do."
