Women's Soccer Falls To Golden Hurricane, 5-0

EDMOND, Okla. -- Oklahoma State's soccer squad suffered its first defeat of the season, losing 5-0 to in-state rival Tulsa before 213 fans at the Edmond Soccer Complex on Sunday evening.
The loss drops the Cowgirls to 1-1 on the season. With the win, Tulsa rose to 2-0.
Both teams squandered chances to get on the board early and take the lead. The game remained scoreless until TU's Melissa McCormick gave the Golden Hurricane the lead with just under three minutes remaining in the half to give Tulsa a 1-0 advantage at the half.
Despite taking only seven shots in the second half, TU converted four of its chances, including a three-goal flurry in a span of six minutes. The Golden Hurricane's Julie Twellman was involved in all three conversions, assisting on goals by Kelly Noonan and Marcie Ferguson as well as adding a goal of her own.
Emily Trost converted a penalty kick at the with 18:24 remaining in the contest to close out the scoring.
The Cowgirls will return to action this weekend when they travel to Baton Rouge to take part in the LSU Invitational. On Friday, OSU will take on Mississippi and will conclude play on Sunday with a match against Louisiana State.
