STILLWATER, Okla. - The Oklahoma State women's soccer team will begin the regular season this weekend when they travel to Edmond for the Oklahoma Shootout.
On Friday, the Cowgirls will take on Oral Roberts at 6 p.m. The meeting will be the third between the two programs. Both of the schools' previous meetings took place in 1996 with the Cowgirls claiming the first match in overtime, 1-0. The Golden Eagles evened the series with a 1-0 win in Stillwater.
OSU will take the field again on Sunday at 5 p.m. against the Tulsa Golden Hurricane. The contest will be the time the two schools have met in the regular season.
The Cowgirls opened their fifth year of competition with a 5-0 exhibition win over Arkansas-Little Rock Saturday night in Stillwater.
Four of OSU's five goals came courtesy of a pair of newcomers. Freshman Joanne Edwards, a native of Liverpool, England, notched the Cowgirls' first goal of the season.
Fellow newcomer Kim Graves turned in a six-point effort against the Trojans, netting three goals in her Cowgirl debut. Sophomore Kellie Williams chipped in with a goal and an assist.
The Cowgirls will be in action again next weekend when they travel to Baton Rouge, La., to battle Mississippi and Louisiana State.
