STILLWATER, Okla. -- The Oklahoma State Cowgirl soccer squad will open the 2000 season tomorrow with an exhibition against Arkansas-Little Rock. The two teams will square off at 7 p.m. at Cowgirl Field in Stillwater.
"We are looking forward to playing at home in front of our fans. UALR will be a good opponent to start out the season," head coach Karen Hancock said.
Despite finishing the 1999 campaign with a record of 5-14, OSU bounced back to go undefeated during the spring, finishing with a 9-0-3 record.
Entering its fifth season of competition, the squad will have a blend of youth and experience throughout the lineup. The Cowgirls return 14 letterwinners and eight starters from last year's squad.
In addition, the Cowgirls have added a bevy of talented newcomers that will be looked upon to contribute immediately.
"We are excited about our returners, especially after the progress that they made during the spring and over the summer. We are equally excited about our new faces and anxious to see what they will do," Hancock said.
Tomorrow's contest will be broadcast on 93.7 F.M. in the Stillwater area.
The Cowgirls will begin the regular season on Aug. 25 when they they take on Oral Roberts.
