STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State senior outfielder Carlos Gautreaux was named a second-team GTE Academic All-American in a vote of sports information representatives across the country.
Gautreaux was the Big 12 batting champion with a .400 average this season and was a first team all-conference selection. He also earned Academic All-Big 12 plaudits for the second straight season with a 3.54 cumulative grade point average in psychology.
The Abbeville, La., native led the Pokes in several offensive categories including hits (78), doubles (20) and runs scored (60). He along with Iowa State outfielder Aaron Runk were the only two players from the Big 12 to receive Academic All-America plaudits.
Gautreaux is the fifth OSU baseball player to earn the award and his selection marks the second straight season a member of the Cowboy baseball program has won the award. Josh Holliday was a third-team selection last season.
