Streaking Cowboys Down Iowa State, 9-6

STILLWATER, Okla. - Curt Anthony went three-for-four at the plate tonight and scored two runs as Oklahoma State defeated Iowa State 9-6 at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.
The Cowboys won their fifth straight game to improve to 32-18 and 11-12 in the Big 12 while Iowa State fell to 16-34 and 6-20 in conference action.
Matt Smith was the winning pitcher for the Cowboys, improving his record to 7-6 on the season. He struck out five batters and allowed only five hits in seven innings. Iowa State's Dave Rossman fell to 0-2 with the loss.
The Cowboys jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after two innings before Iowa State scored three runs in the top of the third to take the lead 3-2.
Oklahoma State put two runs on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning with singles by Curt Anthony, Jimbo McAuliff, and Nebasett Brown, but the Cyclones answered in the top of the fifth to tie the game 4-4.
OSU then took the lead for good in the bottom of the sixth as they scored three runs off of singles by Curt Anthony, Brown, and Ryan Budde. Luke Scott also added an RBI double for the Pokes. The Cyclones scored one run in the top of the second to bring the score to 7-5.
Oklahoma State then added two more runs in the seventh inning to lead 9-5. ISU's Ben Van Iderstine hit a home run in the top of the ninth, bringing the final score to 9-6.
Offensively, OSU's Nebasett Brown went two-for-two with two RBIs and Luke Scott was three-for-five with three RBIs on the night. Carl--s Gautreaux also recorded two hits in five at bats.
The Cowboys will finish up their three-game series with the Cyclones tomorrow at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
