VICTORIA, Texas - Oklahoma State's men's golf team finished third Saturday afternoon at the NCAA Central Regional here at the Victoria Country Club. Sophomore Anders Hultman led the Cowboy attack by shooting a three-under-par 210, good enough for ninth place.

The Big 12's Texas took the team title with a final score of five-under 847, making a move from fourth after the second round. Kent, which was in fifth place after the second day, shot a 273 and moved into a second-place finish. OSU shot a 283 on the final day and finished three strokes behind Texas at 847.

Houston finished fourth, one stroke back of the Cowboys, while Minnesota finished fifth, two strokes behind OSU. Northwestern, which led after two days of competition, shot a 290 during the final round and finished sixth.

Cowboy junior Charles Howell finished tied for 10th with a three-day total of 211, or two-under par. Landry Mahan finished tied for 21st with a 214, while senior Edward Loar finished tied for 40th with a 217. Freshman J.C. DeLeon rounded out the OSU scores with a 224.

The top nine teams advance to the NCAA Championships, as well as the top two individual qualifiers. OSU and Texas, as well as the Big 12's Kansas and Oklahoma, will compete in the Championships, scheduled for May 31 through June 3 at the Grand National Country Club in Auburn, Ala.
