Cowboy Wrestling Inks Another Top Class

STILLWATER, Okla. - Eight wrestlers have signed national letters-of-intent with the Oklahoma State wrestling program during the spring signing period.
"I really feel comfortable with this class of recruits," said OSU head coach John Smith. "These are all quality individuals who will fill the holes for Oklahoma State wrestling in the future."
James Huml, Jr., a two-time NJCAA Champion at heavyweight and the 2000 NJCAA Tournament's Outstanding Wrestler, has committed to the Cowboys. A native of Sugar City, Idaho, Huml attended Ricks Junior College out of Sugar-Salem High School. He was a two-time state champion and posted a record of 118-16.
Michael Christian, one of two Washington wrestlers to sign with OSU, joins the Pokes after finishing his high school career as the top-ranked 215-pounder in the country. Projected as a 197-pounder at OSU, Christian was a two-time state champion and recorded 135 wins against 11 losses with 117 falls. He was also a National High School Coaches Association National Champion at 215 pounds.
The Pokes also inked highly sought after Chris Pendleton of Lemoore High School in Lemoore, Calif. In his senior season he captured a California State Championship and earned the most outstanding wrester award in the process. He was 68-2 while recording 58 falls. He is also a two-time NHSCA All-American, finishing fourth this spring.
Matt Ellis another Washington native, also joins the Cowboy squad. He was a two-time state champion while posting a career record of 136-11 at Prosser High School. Ellis also earned All-American honors placing third at the NHSCA Nationals. He is expected to wrestle at 157 or 165 pounds for the Cowboys.
OSU also added in-state talent with Collinsville's Ronnie Delk. Delk, a two-time state champion was a four-year letterman under the direction of head coach Mike Henry. Delk should wrestle at 141 or 149 pounds for the Pokes.
Cody Williams, a Sperry native, also signed with the Cowboys. Williams another two-time state champion, is projected at 149 or 157 pounds in the OSU lineup. He also won a state championship in weight lifting at 148 pounds.
Another Oklahoma breed product, Sallisaw's Chad Reid, also signed with the Cowboys. Reid joins the Pokes via Labette Community College, where he was a two-time All-American on the mat and a two-time All-American in the classroom with a 4.0 grade point average.
Brett Munson, younger brother to recently departed Cowboy senior Todd Munson, also signed with OSU. Munson won a state championship this past season at Arkansas City High School in Kansas. He is projected as a 174-pounder in the Cowboy lineup.
These eight wrestlers join fall signees D.J. Radnovich, Clark Shouse and Derek Stevens.
This spring Shouse became one of a select few Oklahoman's to win four state championships. Stevens claimed his second state title at Norman High School in 2000 while finishing second at NHSCA Nationals. Radnovich was a third-place finisher in the NJCAA National Tournament for Lincoln College.
