Oklahoma State Baseball Falls To Oklahoma, 5-3

TULSA, Okla. - Eliot Joyner hit a RBI triple in the seventh inning scoring Chad Cochell from first base with the winning run as Oklahoma edged past Oklahoma State 5-3 in Bedlam Baseball action Friday night in front of 11,196 fans at Drillers Stadium.
Joyner would score on a Jerome Godsey sacrifice fly to give the Sooners the 5-3 win, snapping the Cowboys eight-game win streak. Oklahoma improved to 29-15 and 12-7 in the Big 12 while OSU dropped to 27-15 and 9-10 in conference play.
Oklahoma State jumped out to a 2-0 lead after three innings of play before OU rallied with a three-run fourth inning. Nebasett Brown had a RBI double in the first and Jimbo McAuliff a run scoring single in the third before the Sooners rallied behind a two-run homer by Tommy Whiteman who was then followed by a solo homer by RIck Park.
The Cowboys rallied to tie the score in the sixth when Curt Anthony took advantage of second baseman Zach Lekse?s error in the field and scored from third.
Josh Merrigan took the loss to drop to 7-2 on the season, his first loss since Feb. 28 against Baylor. He pitched 6.1 innings and gave up up four runs on four hits while walking five and striking out four.
Evan Greusel picked up the win to move to 3-0 on the year. He threw 7.2 innings, giving up three runs, two earned on seven hits while striking out a career-high nine. Jeff Bajenaru picked up his 13th save of the year with 1.1 innings of scoreless relief.
With the win OU tied the all-time series at 126-126 and improved to 9-1 against the Cowboys at Drillers Stadium in Tulsa.
Oklahoma State will face Oklahoma in the second game of the series Saturday at the Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City at 3 p.m.
