STILLWATER, Okla. -- Oklahoma State University honored basketball player Jennifer Crow and wrestler Jeff Ragan as its Student-Athletes of the Year during Monday's Academic Awards Banquet.
Crow and Ragan were recognized as the climax to an evening that saw over 200 OSU student-athletes recognized for their work in the classroom and the community.
To earn an invitation to the banquet, student-athletes must earn an OSU grade point average equal or greater to 3.0 over their collegiate careers, the fall and spring semesters combined, the spring, summer and fall semesters combined, or, for first-year freshmen and transfer students, for the fall 1999 semester. The Academic Services for Student-Athletes department honored 191 such student-athletes Monday night as well as 31 graduating seniors.
Crow, an elementary education major from Corn, Okla., finished her Cowgirl career as OSU's second-leading career scorer. As a senior, she led the Big 12 in scoring (21.5 points per game) and earned GTE Academic All-America first-team honors. A four-time Academic All-Big 12 first-team selection, she had previously earned GTE Academic All-America second-team status in 1999.
Ragan, a mathematics major from Englewood, Fla., earned All-America honors in his senior season, his first as a Cowboy regular and his fourth as an OSU letterman. A four-time Academic All-Big 12 selection, Ragan posted a 31-12 record in 1999-2000 and won the Big 12 championship at 125 pounds. He finished his Cowboy career as the 19th OSU wrestler to register at least 100 career victories.
