Oklahoma State Women's Track And Field Concludes Busy Weekend

STILLWATER, Okla. -- Hanna Smedstad, a junior member of the Oklahoma State women's track and field team, had a busy weekend.
Smedstad traveled to California on Friday afternoon to compete in the 5,000m race at the 42nd annual Mt. SAC Relays, sponsored by San Antonio College. Smedstad finished 33nd in the race, finishing with a time of 16:27.19.
The next day, she boarded a plane and headed back to Oklahoma to join the rest of her teammates at the University of Oklahoma's John Jacobs Invitational.
Smedstad only competed in one event at the John Jacobs Invitational - the 1,500m race. She claimed a 17th-place finish in the race with her 5:04.78 time. Junior Sara Wells was a few steps ahead of Smedstad, finishing the 1,500m in 4:54.45, allowing her to capture the 8th-place finish. Wells also competed in the 800m run, finishing in 24th-place with her 2:28.35 time.
The Cowgirls dominated the long jump event at the John Jacobs Invitational. Junior Melinda Jackson finished first with her 19'04.25 jump. Freshman Charya Hubbard's 18'09.75 jump was good enough for a third-place finish. This jump was Hubbard's best for the outdoor season. She captured an 18'06.00 mark at the College Station Relays in March.
The Cowgirls' next scheduled appearance will be at the April 28 Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa.
