Men's Track And Field Team Hits The Road

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's men's track team will travel to Wichita, Kan., to compete in the K.T. Woodman Classic on Saturday.
The 52-year-old meet, hosted by Wichita State at Cessna Stadium, begins at 10:30 a.m. with field events. Running events start at 11 a.m. with the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase. The meet will conclude with the men's 4x400m relay at 3:20 p.m. The classic is the counterpart to the WSU's Shocker Gold Classic, a cross country meet hosted annually in the fall.
The Cowboys will compete against athletes from WSU, Missouri-Kansas City and Bethel College as well as Kansas community colleges from Butler County, Cloud County, Colby, Dodge City, Garden City, Hutchinson, Kansas City (Kan.) and Pratt.
Last weekend, the Cowboys had the top two finishes in the 1,500m and 5,000m races at the Radio Shack Crossroads College Invitational in Joplin, Mo.
Junior Vasquez ran away with the title in the 1,500m with a 4:07.01 finish. Ben Tickner finished second in 4:12.21.
Derek Tate won the 5,000m in 15:57.00, while Jerry Rainey finished second in 15:59.00. Trey Vernon led the second surge of Cowboys with a fifth-place finish in 16:34.00. Jon Cordes crossed the line in sixth in 16:45.00, and Gregory Rouault was seventh with a time of 16:58.00. Cedric DuPont finished eighth in 17:15.00.
