STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's outdoor track teams will once again open the outdoor season by hosting the OSU Duals this weekend at the Kaye Barrett Droke Track & Field Center.
The duals begin Friday at 3:30 p.m. with the hammer and javelin throws. The rest of the events are Saturday, beginning with the women's pole vault at 11 a.m. Track events begin at 12:30 p.m. with the women's 4x100m relay. The meet will conclude at 4x400m men's relay starting at 3:55 p.m.
Nine Cowboys are scheduled to compete in the 800m, while seven should be in the 1,500m race and four are in the 5,000m. Tulsa and Wichita State also are bringing teams to the meet.
"It's a dual meet to open the season," OSU coach Dick Weis said. "It gives a chance to get out and start the season. It will be a low-key meet."
The meet will still go on even if there is rain. Weis said that the track is made for all types of weather so it should not interfere with the meet.
"We're never too sure of the weather," he said. "Rain shouldn't stop us, but it might be sloppy."
While most of the team will be staying in town this weekend, two Cowboys are heading out to California for the Stanford Invitational.
Chuck Sloan will compete in the 5,000m, which is scheduled to begin at about 9:05 p.m. Derek Tate will be in the second section of the 10,000m at 10:45 p.m.
After this weekend, the Cowboys will head to the Southwest Invitational in Fort Worth, Texas, on April 1.
