Cowboys Named To The Academic All-Big 12 Team

STILLWATER, Okla. - The Big 12 Conference announced today that seven Oklahoma State wrestlers have been named to the 2000 Academic All-Big 12 team.
Ten wrestlers are named to the first team which requires a 3.2 grade point average and the athlete to participate in at least 60 percent of his teams matches. The second team requires a 3.0 GPA and consists of 10 more wrestlers.
Cowboys comprise half of the first team with Tony Gansen, Mark Mu-oz, Todd Munson, Jeff Ragan and Shane Roller all being selected.
Gansen, a junior from Belle Plaine, Minn., is the Cowboys starting 174-pounder this season. He recorded a 22-13 record, while posting a 3.37 GPA.
The Cowboys 197-pounder, Mu-oz is a native of Vallejo, Calif. In his third year as a starter Mu-oz posted a 29-3 record and is currently ranked second in the nation. This was the second straight year for Mu-oz to be selected.
A native of Arkansas City, Kan., Munson is in his senior season. He went 3-3 on the season, while earning a 3.3 GPA in the classroom.
In his fifth year in the OSU program, Ragan has been selected to the Academic All-Big 12 team for the fourth time. Ragan, a native of Englewood, Calif., is 25-9 on the season and is ranked sixth at 125 pounds. His 3.48 GPA is the highest on the Cowboy squad.
Roller, a redshirt freshman from Bixby, owns a 23-15 record on the season and is ranked 16th at 157 pounds. His work in the classroom produced a 3.25 GPA.
OSU's Ty Wilcox and senior Justin Turner garnered second-team honors.
