ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Oklahoma State's fourth-ranked wrestling team advanced 8 of 10 wrestlers into Thursday nights second round of the 2000 NCAA Championships at the Kiel Center.
The Cowboys enter tonight's second round at 6:30 p.m. in second-place with 20 points. Iowa State leads after the first session with 20.5 points. Iowa is in third with 16.5 points.
Jamill Kelly, OSU's 141-pounder, drew a pigtail match against Michigan State's Mike Castillo. Kelly decisioned Castillo 3-1 and then major decisioned Pennsylvania Jody Giuricich 10-2.
Jeff Ragan (125) and Reggie Wright (149) both pinned their opponents in the first round, while Ty Wilcox earned a major decision.
No. 3 seed Daniel Cormier was leading 4-0 when Penn State's Jeff Knapp withdrew due to injury.
At 285 pounds, OSU's Dave Anderton picked up the third pin of the day for the Cowboys. Anderton pinned Oregon State's No. 7 Jason Cooley in 28 seconds.
OSU's No. 1 197-pounder Mark Mu-oz and sixth-seeded 133-pounder Charles Walker both earned bye's into the second round.
