Baylor Defeats Oklahoma State In Game Two, 13-1

WACO, Texas -- Baylor scored five runs in the fourth and pulled away from Oklahoma State to win 13-1 in the nightcap of a doubleheader Saturday night at the Baylor Ballpark.
OSU jumped to an 1-0 lead in the first when Luke Scott knocked a RBI single to rightfield scoring Carlos Gautreaux from third.
The Bears rallied in the second inning for two runs, one of which was earned off of Cowboy starter Josh Merrigan.
Baylor added a run in the third and blew the game open with a five-run fourth, knocking out Merrigan. Jace Brewer and Preston Underdown accounted for four of the runs with two-RBI singles each.
Merrigan took the loss to drop to 2-1 after pitching three innings and giving up five runs, four earned, while striking out four.
Ryan Herrmann, who came in in relief of Merrigan in the fourth, struck out a career high eight batters in three and a third innings of work.
The Bears added five runs in the seventh to take a 13-1 lead and the game was called due to the 12-run rule.
Carlos Gautreaux paced the Pokes at the plate with a 2-for-4 showing with a double and a run scored.
Oklahoma State dropped to 7-4 overall and 1-1 in the Big 12 while Baylor improved to 10-3 and 1-1 in conference play.
The two teams will play the rubber game of the three-game series Sunday at 2 p.m. CST. Scheduled to pitch for the Cowboys will be Frank Bludau while Josh Scott is slated to pitch for the Bears.
