Oklahoma State - Texas A&M Notes
November 04, 2000 | Cowboy Football
Nov. 4, 2000
- Junior TB Reggie White's 27-yard pass reception in the second quarter
was the longest reception of his career. He finished the game with three
receptions for 54 yards, both career highs.
- White finished with 112 rushing yards to become the first back to gain
100 yards against Texas A&M this season. In fact, only two entire teams
(Notre Dame and Kansas State) gained more rushing yards against A&M this
season than White did today individually.
- Sophomore WR Gabe Lindsay's 57-yard punt return for a score was his
second career touchdown (he had a receiving score against Iowa State three
weeks ago). It was OSU's first punt-return touchdown since Terance
Richardson went 52 yards against Baylor for a score last season. Remarkably,
it's the first punt returned for a touchdown against a Texas A&M team since
Barry Sanders went 61 yards to cap a 52-15 OSU victory in 1988, the last
time the Cowboys defeated the Aggies.
- OSU rushed for 167 yards today, only Notre Dame (194 yards on the
ground in the season opener) rushed for more yards against Texas A&M this
season.
- Today's game marks the first time since Sept. 16 that OSU has not
allowed its opponent a first-quarter point. OSU led Southwest Texas 7-0
after one period in that contest. The Cowboys also held Tulsa scoreless,
leading 21-0, after one quarter in the season opener. Today's game also
marked only the second time this season (the SWT game was the first) that an
OSU opponent was held to single-digit scoring in the first half.
- Senior TE Marcellus Rivers and freshman QB Aso Pogi hooked up -- in
reverse, with the tight end throwing to the quarterback -- for a nine-yard
pass in the second quarter. It was the first pass of Rivers' career and the
first reception of Pogi's.
- Despite completing a pass of his own, Rivers saw his 14-game
pass-catching streak come to an end.
- Pogi's second-quarter touchdown run was the second of his career. The
redshirt freshman previously scored on the ground against Iowa State three
weeks ago.
- Pogi's second-quarter TD was also OSU's first touchdown against Texas
A&M since the 1997 contest in College Station. The Cowboys had managed just
three field goals in the previous two meetings.
- Senior PK Seth Condley's third-quarter field goal marked the third
consecutive contest in which OSU has scored on its first second-half
possession. The Cowboys drove for touchdowns against Colorado last week and
Iowa State three weeks ago.
- Paul Jones' third-quarter interception was the first of his career.
- Sophomore QB Ryan Bivin saw action as a Cowboy for the first time in
his career and turned in a 13-yard gain on his only rushing play.
- The Cowboys have lost six straight games for the first time since they
lost the last seven games of the 1993 season.
