PRINCETON, N.J. -- Oklahoma State junior Anders Hultman (Gothenburg, Sweden) and University of Arizona freshman Lorena Ochoa (Guadalajara, Mexico) have been named the Rolex College Golfers of the Month for November, after both won the individual titles at two of the season's biggest Rolex Collegiate Tour events during the month. It is the second time this season that Ochoa has been honored as the Rolex College Golfer of the Month (September).
Hultman won the individual medalist honors in record fashion at the Rolex/Golf World/Palmetto Dunes Collegiate Invitational, one of the premiere events on the Rolex Collegiate Tour. He fired a tournament record 21-under par 195 (66-66-63), shattering the old mark of 15-under par 201 set by David Berganio of Arizona in 1992. Hultman's performance was made even more impressive by having to fend off a late charge by Bryce Molder of Georgia Tech, the October Rolex College Golfer of the Month and No. 1-ranked men's individual in the MasterCard Rankings, who finished a stroke behind despite tying the all-time NCAA record with a final round 60. Hultman, who led the Cowboys to a third place finish, was named the Golf World Player of the Week for the week of November 10th. Ranked No. 25 in the November 1st edition of the MasterCard Rankings, Hultman tallied a stroke average of 65.00 for the month (three rounds).
Ochoa won the individual medalist honors at the Rolex/Golf World/Palmetto Dunes Collegiate Invitational in a playoff with Katherine Hull of Pepperdine. Ochoa and Hull finished the regulation 54 holes with a score of five-under par 211. Ochoa birdied the first hole of the playoff - Hole No. 1, a 334-yard par-four - to win the individual title. She shot 68-71-72 while leading the Wildcats to a sixth place finish. Ochoa also posted a 1-1-1 record at the CGF Match Play Championships, winning her rematch versus Katherine Hull of Pepperdine, while helping to lead Arizona to a seventh place finish. Ranked No. 1 in the November 1st edition of the MasterCard Rankings, Ochoa finished the month with a stroke average of 70.33 (three rounds).
The Rolex College Golfer of the Month award is voted on by members of the College Golf Foundation's Golfer of the Month Committee. The award is based primarily on results from Rolex Collegiate Tour events, plus conference championships, NCAA Regionals and the NCAA Championships. Each winner will receive a certificate from the College Golf Foundation in recognition of this honor.
