STILLWATER, Okla. -- Today, Sara Wells became only the second harrier to gain All-America honors for the Oklahoma State women's cross country team since 1989.
Wells competed this morning in the 2000 NCAA Cross Country Championship meet in Ames, Iowa. She finished the 6K race in 21:15.3. Her 20th place finish allowed her to capture the All-America status.
Two years ago, Cowgirl Hanna Smedstad's 28th place finish allowed her to become the first All-America for OSU since 1989.
Wells and teammate Sophomore Alexandra Lindquist were the lone representatives for the Cowgirl cross country team today. Lindquist finished the race in 76th place with a time of 21:48.4. Wells and Lindquist were invited to compete in the national championship meet after finishing fifth and sixth respectively at the NCAA Midwest Regional meet on Nov. 11.
Today's race marked the end of cross country season. Wells and Lindquist will now return home to train for OSU's track and field season.
