COLUMBIA, Mo. - Darius Outlaw, a redshirt freshman making his first career start, threw for one touchdown and ran for another in the first quarter as Missouri beat Oklahoma State 24-10 on Saturday.
Antoine Duncan had two interceptions and Zain Gilmore had 169 yards on 27 carries as Missouri (2-3, 1-1 Big 12) ended a three-game losing streak. Oklahoma State (2-3, 0-2) has been outscored 94-23 during its three-game losing streak and managed only a 42-yard field goal by Seth Condley in the first quarter.
Outlaw, who was 14-for-27 for 191 yards, was the third-string quarterback in mid-August when backup Jim Dougherty suffered a season-ending elbow injury. Starter Kirk Farmer broke his collarbone in the third quarter in last week's loss at Nebraska.
Outlaw was 7-for-9 for 93 yards in the first quarter, scoring his first career touchdown on a 3-yard run and hitting freshman Tay Jackson on a 5-yard pass play. Jackson moved up the depth chart after Missouri lost senior John Dausman to a career-ending knee injury last week.
Both of Duncan's interceptions came in the third quarter. The first one came on a badly overthrown ball by Tony Lindsay and stopped an Oklahoma State drive at the Missouri 22.
Spencer had punt returns of 22 and 28 yards in the first quarter, the latter on a risky decision with the ball rolling and defenders closing in. He also caught three passes for 55 yards, including a 43-yard gain on a ball that was bobbled by Oklahoma State's Chris Massey right into his hands.
That play went to the Oklahoma State 5, setting up Outlaw's touchdown pass to Jackson.
Brad Hammerich had a 45-yard field goal for the only scoring of the third quarter and Gilmore added a 1-yard run with 11:40 to go in the fourth. The touchdown was set up by Michael Gavins' interception of a tipped pass, which gave Missouri possession at the Oklahoma State 22.
Reggie White ran for 102 yards on 26 carries for Oklahoma State, which finally got rolling near the end of the game. Backup quarterback Aso Pogi threw a 28-yard fourth-quarter touchdown pass to Terrance Davis-Bryant for Oklahoma State after the Cowboys were stopped on downs at the Missouri 10 on the previous possession.
Missouri, which drove to the Oklahoma State 1 with 49 seconds left, has won five of the last six meetings between the teams. This was the first game since 1997, when the Tigers won 51-50 in triple overtime on the road.
