Cowgirls Drop First Game at LSU Invitational

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana-- Oklahoma State's women's soccer team suffered a 3-1 setback at the hands of Mississippi on Friday at the LSU Invitational in Baton Rouge.
With the loss, the Cowgirls dipped to 1-2 on the season. The win was the first of the season for the Rebels and improved their mark to 1-2 on the year.
Playing in conditions that saw temperatures soar into triple digits, the Rebels took the lead at the 21:15 mark of the first half when Regan Scanlon netted her first goal of the season on a 25-yard shot.
The Rebels stretched the margin to 2-0 nine minutes into the second half on midfielder Jennifer Soileau's first goal of the season.
The Cowgirls drew within a goal when sophomore Kelly McKay scored the first goal of her career, converting a corner kick. On the play, senior Andi Lute, who holds the OSU record for career assists, notched her first assist of the season.
Scanlon tacked on her second goal of the game less than a minute later to provide the contest's final scoring.
The Cowgirls will return to action on Sunday when they take on Louisiana State at 2 p.m.
