Nilsson Finishes Seventh at Red River Classic

DALLAS, Texas -- Par Nilsson, playing in his second collegiate golf tournament, finished seventh today at the Red River Classic.
Nilsson carded a 4-under-par round of 68 to open the tournament and briefly held a share of the lead at 8-under in Tuesday's final round before falling back to finish at 6-under. Nilsson's junior teammate and Swedish countryman, Anders Hultman, joined him in the top 20. Hultman finished 20th at 1-under-par
Nilsson's performance led OSU into ninth place in the team standings. Freshman Matt McQuillan finished 49th at 5-over, sophomore Boyd Summerhays, back this year after a two-year mission in Argentina, was 64th at 9-over, and senior Peter Davidson was 66th at 10-over. Sophomore J.C. DeLeon, competing as an individual, finished 39th at 4-over.
The Cowboys will be back in action next Monday and Tuesday when they compete in the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate in Birmingham, Ala.
