Wrestling Travels To National Duals

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's fourth-ranked wrestling team will venture to University Park, Pa., on Saturday and Sunday, to defend its title at the Cliff Keen/NWCA National Duals.
Head coach John Smith's Cowboys are 5-1-1 on the season and 1-0-1 in Big 12 action headed into the weekend's competition.
The field includes four of the top five teams, six of the top-10 teams and 12 of the top 25 teams. Oklahoma State has won five National Duals titles the most of any team in the field.
OSU is seeded third behind Iowa State and Minnesota. The seeding will set up a possible rematch with Minnesota in the semifinals. The Golden Gophers ended the Cowboys 73-match dual winning streak on Jan. 9, in Stillwater.
Brian Burrows returns to the Cowboys program and is expected to make his first start of the 1999-2000 season during this weekend's National Duals.
Burrows saw his first action of the season in the Roger Denker Open Wrestling Tournament in Warrensburg, Mo. last weekend. He overwhelmed the competition on the way to the title and being named the tournaments outstanding wrestler. Burrows went 5-0 with three falls.
The Cowboys will take two wrestlers at five weights for this weekend's competition. Matt Brown (125), Jerrod Sanders (141), Burrows (157), Tony Gansen (174) and Pat Popolizio (184).
The Cowboys will take the mat at 10 a.m. CST on Saturday at the Bryce Jordan Center with the quarterfinals to follow at 2 p.m. and the semifinals at 7 p.m. The finals will take place on Sunday at 1 p.m.
