Oklahoma State Men's Basketball Postgame Notes
January 19, 2000 | Cowboy Basketball
Jan. 19, 2000
...following OSU's 73-65 victory over Texas on Wednesday:
Postgame Notes
- OSU improved to 3-0 in Big 12 play for the second straight year, before
last season, the Cowboys had not won their first three conference games
since the 1991-92 team started 4-0. OSU's 14-1 record is its best through 15
games since that 1991-92 team opened 20-0.
- The Cowboys improved to 27-25 all-time against Texas but defeated the
Longhorns for just the third time in nine tries since the inception of the
Big 12 Conference three years ago.
- Desmond Mason scored 30 points, two off his career high (32 vs. Baylor,
Jan. 9, 1999) and one off his season high (31 vs. Washington, Dec. 21).
Mason hit 11 of 16 shots tonight, in his last three games against Division I
competition, he had scored a total of 20 points, going eight-for-31 from the
field. Mason is just the eighth player in OSU history to score 30 or more
points in three games in his career.
- Joe Adkins tied a career high in rebounds (eight) and finished one off
his career high in steals with five. Adkins moved past Mason, Adrian
Peterson and Cornell Hatcher into a tie for eighth place in school history
in career steals (135).
- OSU won its 11th straight home game, the last team to defeat the
Cowboys in Gallagher-Iba Arena was Texas on Valentine's Day last year.
- OSU is 7-0 this season and 22-1 in his career when Mason leads the team in scoring. The only loss was last year at Texas, when Mason scored 24 but the Cowboys lost 73-70.
Dunks: Adkins, Mason
