Cowgirls Wrap Up Five-game Road Trip

The Week Ahead:Oklahoma State winds up its season opening five-game road trip this Wednesday against Southwest Missouri State at 4 p.m. before opening its home schedule on Sunday against North Texas at 1 p.m.
Last Week for OSU: The Cowgirls won their first game of the season last Friday, defeating South Alabama 5-0 in Mobile, Ala. Missy Moss and Andi Lute led the offensive attack with two goals each while goalkeepers Laurel Catlett-King and Katharine Doud combined for the first shutout of their careers. OSU could not sustain its offensive surge as Southeastern Conference power Alabama shutout the Cowgirls 3-0 last Sunday dropping the team's record to 1-3 on the season.
About Southwest Missouri State : Southwest Missouri State is 4-1 this season after defeating Mississippi State 5-0 last Sunday. The Lady Bears have beaten two Oklahoma teams already this season (Tulsa, 5-2, and Oral Roberts, 6-0) and have outscored their opponents 21-4. Freshman Debbie Stark leads the team with four goals while goalkeeper Jennifer Grocki has a 0.73 goals against average. Southwest Missouri State is coached by Rob Brewer who is in his fourth year as the head man in Springfield and owns a 28-33-3 ledger. The Cowgirls hold a 2-1 series advantage after beating the Lady Bears 4-0 last season in Stillwater.
About North Texas: North Texas is 2-1 this season after a pair of wins last weekend in Denton. The Lady Eagles defeated Houston and Berry College by identical 4-0 scores after losing its season opener to SMU 3-0 on Aug. 27. Christy Johnson, Carrie Kveton and Krista Davey share the team lead with two goals apiece while goalkeeper Adria Costanzo has seen the majority of the time in net and has a 1.50 goals against average along with 10 saves. Last season the Lady Eagles defeated the Cowgirls 3-1 in Denton, OSU's only loss in its first nine games of 1998.
Moss Making Noise: Senior Missy Moss has been on a goal scoring rampage for the Cowgirls since the latter part of the 1998 season. Moss finished last season second on the team in scoring with eight goals and three assists (19 points), four of the goals coming in the final four games. The forward from Vancouver, Wash. showed that scoring touch in the South Alabama contest, scoring two goals in the first eight minutes of play. Moss has scored 12 goals in her three seasons in Stillwater and has a chance to break the school record of 19 goals in a career set by Robin Rampey from 1996-97.
Cowgirl Notes: Oklahoma State's three losses have been via shutout ... Kellie White scored her first goal in over two years in the team's win over South Alabama ... Goalkeepers Laurel Catlett-King and Katharine Doud have split time in goal all four games this season ... OSU is 2-0 in season home openers at the Corral ... Andi Lute added another assist in the USA contest to give her a total of 15 in her career, the all-time record at OSU ... freshman Zita Tiamuh also got on the scoring board with the first assist of her collegiate career.
