MOBILE, Ala. - Forward Missy Moss scored two goals in the first 10 minutes of the contest as the Oklahoma State women's soccer team blanked South Alabama 5-0 Friday night in Mobile, Ala.
The win snapped a 12-game winless streak dating back to last season as the Cowgirls improved to 1-2 on the year. The loss was the first of the season for the Jaguars, who dropped to 2-1.
Moss scored OSU's first goal of the game, and season, at the 6:42 mark in the first half and added another score just over two minutes later to give the Cowgirls an early 2-0 lead.
Junior Kellie White scored her first goal since the 1997 season at the 46:55 mark off an assist by Andi Lute to increase the Cowgirl lead to 3-0.
Lute added two scores of her own at the 61:36 and 63:36 marks to cap off the OSU win. Forward Andrea Larsen added two assists while freshman Zita Tiamuh chipped in with her first collegiate assist.
Goalkeepers Katharine Doud and Laurel Catlett-King recorded the combined shutout, the first of their careers and Oklahoma State's first since a 6-0 win over Centenary College on Sept. 27, 1998.
The Cowgirls will wind up the two-game Alabama road swing when they take on the University of Alabama Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
