Cowgirls Host Denver Friday

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State will play its second home game in nine contests when the Cowgirls host Denver University Friday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. OSU will take the rest of the weekend off and prepare for its Bedlam matchup against Oklahoma next Tuesday, Sept. 28 at 6 p.m. in Norman.
Last Week for OSU: The Cowgirls went 0-2 last week in the Adidas Invitational in Portland, Ore. OSU lost 9-0 to host Portland last Saturday before falling to tournament champion Washington 3-0 on Sunday.
About Denver: Denver is 4-2-1 on the year after falling to New Mexico 4-1 last Sunday, snapping the Pioneers four game win streak. Senior midfielder Andrea Raleigh is the team's scoring leader with four goals this season while goalkeeper Erica Izard has a 1.23 goals against average with three shutouts in seven games. Head coach Jeff Hooker has posted a 83-38-13 ledger in eight seasons as the pilot of the DU program. Last season the Pioneers went 10-5-3 and defeated Oklahoma State 2-1 in overtime in Denver.
About Oklahoma: Oklahoma is 1-7 overall and 0-2 in the Big 12 conference. The Sooners lost a pair of contests last week to SMU (3-2 in overtime) and Texas Christian (1-0). The Sooners have lost four straight contests, the lone win this season was a 2-1 victory over Oral Roberts on Sept. 7. Tuesday's matchup against OSU will be OU's first home game in eight matches and its first contest in 10 days.
A Little Extra About Bedlam: Oklahoma State is 3-0 against Oklahoma in the all-time series, with the Cowgirls winning 2-1 in overtime last season in Stillwater. In fact the last two contests have gone into extra periods with OSU winning 1-0 in 1997. Junior Mercy Morrical, a three-year starter for the Cowgirls, is from Norman while Terri Marcum is on the Oklahoma roster after playing last year as a freshman at Oklahoma State.
