Cowgirls Lose Home Opener To North Texas, 4-2

STILLWATER, Okla. - North Texas scored three first half goals en route to a 4-2 victory over Oklahoma State in women's soccer action Sunday afternoon at the OSU Soccer Complex.
Gina Turner scored at the 15:37 mark in the first half to give the Lady Eagles an early 1-0 lead. UNT's second goal came via an OSU own goal when defender Emily Hamilton accidentally struck the ball into the OSU net.
Midfielder Carrie Kveton scored with eight minutes remaining in the first half to close out the first half scoring for the Lady Eagles.
Andrea Larsen got on the board for OSU at the 74:30 mark in the second half when she took a deflected shot by Missy Moss and put it in past the UNT goalkeeper.
The Lady Eagles added another goal two minutes later to make it 4-1 before OSU freshman Kellie Williams netted her first collegiate goal when she scored with a shot from 35 yards out that went past the drawn out goalie.
UNT improved to 3-1 on the year with the win, while OSU fell to 1-5. The loss was the Cowgirls first in its three home openers at "The Corral".
OSU will be back in action this weekend when they travel to Portland, Ore., to compete in the Adidas/Met Life Tournament. The Cowgirls will face Portland Friday, Sept. 12 at 2:15 p.m. CT.
