Wrestling Increases Winning Streak to 64 Matches

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's top-ranked wrestling team increased its winning streak to 64 matches with a 32-6 dual win over No. 17 Oregon State, Saturday evening in Gallagher-Iba Arena.
Oklahoma State won the last six matches of the dual to garner the win.
Dave Anderton started that string off with a fall over seventh-ranked Mat Orndorff. The fifth was Anderton's fifth straight and team leading 12th on the season.
The Cowboy;s defending national champions Teague Moore and Eric Guerrero remained undefeated with easy wins. Moore had a 10-2 win over Nathan Navarro and Guerrero had a technical fall, his 10th of the season, over Ben Richards, 17-1.
Charles Walker then won a 22-9 major decision over Paul Barron. He had 10 takedowns in the match. Reggie Wright then upset second-ranked Oscar Wood, 12-10 in overtime. Jimmy Arias then beat Eric Jorgensen, 11-6
The two teams started the dual off by splitting the first four matches.
Shawn Smith started the dual off for the Cowboys at 165-pounds with a tiebreaker loss to Nathan Coy. No. 1 ranked 174-pounder Mark Smith then came to the mat for the Cowboys and earned a 14-4 win over Clint Wilson.
Mark Mu-oz then won the 184-pound match for the Cowboys with a 3-1 overtime win over Issace Weber. Josh Cruzan then dropped an 8-3 decision to Shane Zajac of the Beavers.
The Cowboys will host the National Wrestling Coaches Association All-Star Dual Monday night at 7 p.m. The whole team will next be in action Feb. 7 against Oklahoma.
