Men's Golf Moves into Third at Jerry Pate

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Playing its best round of the season, the top-ranked OSU men's golf team moved up four spots to finish in third place at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate.
Starting the day in seventh place, the Cowboys carded a 10-under-par 274 in today's final round to finish third at the Jerry Pate for the second straight year.
Junior Edward Loar continued his career-long string of success at the tournament, shooting a career-best 65 today to finish at 8-under 205. His third-place finish marks his third top-three performance in this tournament in as many years; he finished third last season and won the tournament two years ago.
Sophomore Charles Howell finished ninth at 210. Sophomore Peter Davidson and freshman Anders Hultman tied for 24th at 217, and junior Landry Mahan was 33rd with a 54-hole score of 219.
The Cowboys return to action Nov. 6-8 for the GolfWorld tournament at Hilton Head, S.C.
