Men's Golf in Third at Red River Classic

DALLAS - Landry Mahan carded a second-round 65 to move into second place individually, and the top-ranked OSU men's golf team is in third place after two rounds of the Taylor Made Red River Classic.
Mahan, who trails Texas' David Gossett by two strokes, bested his previous 18-hole career low by two strokes and is currently sitting at 9-under-par 135. His 65 ties for the eighth-best single-round score in school history.
OSU is nine strokes behind Houston, which fired a 36-hole team score of 549 to lead second-place Georgia by five strokes. A third-round comeback by the Cowboys would give them their first back-to-back tournament wins to open a season since the 1989-90 season.
OSU's Charles Howell and Peter Davidson (who is competing as an individual) trail Mahan by just two strokes, tied for fifth at 137. Edward Loar (24th, 142), Anders Hultman (38th, 144) and Nick Seymour (81st, 156) rounded out the OSU lineup.
The tournament, played at the Dallas Athletic Club's par-72, 6,766-yards Blue course, will conclude with 18 holes Tuesday.
