Freshmen Lead Cowboys in First Day of The Maxwell

ARDMORE, Okla. - Freshmen Anders Hultman and Bret Guetz posted the Cowboys' best scores as the seventh-ranked OSU men's golf team stood in fifth place after two rounds of The Maxwell by Pontiac.
Hultman, who has led OSU in its last two events, is in eighth place after a 3-over par day. Guetz, who is competing as an individual, is in 15th place, three strokes behind Hultman at 146 on the par-70 Dornick Hills Country Club course.
Led by Hultman, OSU is in fifth place at 27-over-par after 36 holes, trailing leading Houston by 10 shots. Interestingly, if OSU could have used the scores posted by Guetz -- who previously has played in just one tournament this season -- it would stand in second place, two shots off the lead.
Sophomore Charles Howell is just one shot behind Guetz and is in 23rd place. Landry Mahan is at 148 for 27th, and Edward Loar is at 149 for 33rd. Nick Seymour rounded out the OSU team lineup with a 158, good for 72nd place; he is tied with teammate Peter Davidson, who is also competing as an individual.
The event concludes with a single round Sunday.
