Cowboys Capture National Duals Crown

IOWA CITY, Iowa - Oklahoma State's top-ranked wrestling team won the title at the Cliff Keen/NWCA National Duals with a 20-17 win over Minnesota Sunday afternoon in Iowa City, Iowa.
The win was the fifth National Duals title, 59th straight dual win , 48th straight win away from Gallagher-Iba and the 13th straight win against a Big 10 opponent for the Cowboys.
Oklahoma State started the dual off with five straight wins before the intermission. Teague Moore had a tougher than expected match but won 5-3 at 125 pounds. Two-time NCAA Champion Eric Guerrero won his match by a 12-4 major decision count to give the Cowboys a 7-0 win.
Cowboys sophomore Charles Walker had an upset 3-1 win over Chad Erikson at 141 pounds. Reggie Wright, the Cowboys 149-pounder won a 4-2 decision over the Gophers Troy Marr.
The upset of the dual came at 157-pounds, where sixth-ranked Jimmy Arias upset the Gophers Chad Kraft, 3-2. Kraft came into the bout as the top-ranked 157-pounder in the country. Arias won the match with a takedown with :02 remaining in the second period.
Ty Wilcox became the first Cowboy to lose in the dual when he dropped a 12-6 decision to Josh Holiday, his ex-high school teammate at Calvary Chapel High School in California.
Mark Smith continued his unbeaten season with an easy 13-5 win over Matt Kraft. Smith is one of four Cowboys who remain unbeaten on the season. Moore, Guerrero and Wright are all undefeated on the season.
For the second straight dual the Cowboys lost the final three matches of the dual as Mark Mu-oz, Josh Cruzan and Todd Munson all lost their matches.
