Cowboys Advance Two to Semifinals

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Oklahoma State's defending national champions Eric Guerrero and Teague Moore each advanced to the national semifinals with wins in the quarterfinals Friday morning at the NCAA Championships at Penn State University.
The Cowboys only other quarterfinalists Reggie Wright was upset, 6-4, by Adam Tirapelle of Illinois.
The Cowboys has three wins in the third consolation round. Mark Smith, Mark Munoz and Dave Anderton remained alive with wins. Anderton and Smith helped the team cause both beating Iowa wrestlers. Anderton had his second fall of the tournament.
In the second consolation round, the Cowboys had four wrestlers remain alive. Ty Wilcox, Mark Smith, Mark Munoz and Dave Anderton were all winners. The only Cowboy to drop out of the competition was Jimmy Arias, who dropped a 3-1 decision to Larry Quiesel of Boise State.
The team race is bunched to say the least. Minnesota, Iowa and Oklahoma State the favorites going into the tournament are seperated by only three points.
The semifinals will begin at 5:30 CST.
