COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Junior Sherita Jackson led her Oklahoma State teammates into the Colorado Springs Sprint Classic on Saturday, Feb. 14, leaving with one of the top 200 meter performances in the nation as well as a new 55 meter school record. The entire Cowgirl team left nothing behind as they all came home with exceptional performances.
The sprints and jumps finished the night in record setting fashion while several individuals left the meet with personal best performances.
In the 55m dash, junior Sherita Jackson and sophomore Latoyia Hinds finished the meet with top three All-time best Cowgirl performances.
Jackson sprinted a 6.96 in the prelims and finals, breaking her school record time of 6.99 set at the Oklahoma All-Comers meet in Norman, Okla. in 1996. Hinds' time of 6.99 in the prelims places her in a tie for the second best performance with Jackson, while her time of 7.00 in the finals places her in a tie for the third best with Rosa Baker set at the 1990 Big Eight Indoor Championship race.
Jackson finished second in the 200m in a time of 23.71. Her time provisionally qualifies her for the national meet and is the third best performance in the nation in 1998. Her performance is the top Big 12 performance of 1998 and it places her number three in the All-Time Cowgirl record book. Jackson holds the top four all-time best performances.
