Women's Track Heads to Cyclone Qualifiers This Weekend

STILLWATER, Okla.- Coming off a strong performance at last weekend's Big 12 Indoor Championships the Cowgirls will spend this weekend trying to get five individuals qualified for the NCAA Championships.
With a sixth place finish and two individual Big 12 Champions already in hand. The Cowgirls will venture to Ames, Iowa and Norman for "Last Chance" meets this weekend.
Big 12 Champion in the 800m, Andrene Thompson is headed to Ames and the Cyclone National Track and Field Qualifier on Friday. Thompson, whose best time this season in the 800m is 2:09.53 which just falls short of the provisional mark of 2:09.50.
As well, the Cowgirls will send four to Norman on Saturday for the Sooner NCAA Qualifier.
Megan Robbins and Sherita Jackson, both whom have already provisionally qualified for nationals will be looking to improve their marks.
Triple Jumper Melinda Jackson who has fallen just short of qualifying, will take her last shot this weekend. Also competing this weekend is Nancy Guillen who will look for those last few inches in the weight throw to get her into the NCAA's.
This weekends competitions will be the last opportunity for individuals to qualify for nationals, which will take place March 5-6 at the RCA Dome in Indianapolis, Ind.
