The Week Ahead: Oklahoma State begins a four-game homestand this Friday when the Cowgirls host rival Oklahoma (4-2) in both teams conference opener at 4 p.m. at the OSU Soccer Complex. OSU will close out the weekend when they take on Southwest Missouri State (1-3) on Sunday, Sept. 20 at 1 p.m.
Last Week: Oklahoma State set a new school record for consecutive wins with six after beating Houston, 3-1, on Sept. 11. Sophomore midfielder Andi Lute scored two goals in the game and Melissa Wykes added another as the Cowgirls moved to 2-1 in season openers.
Oklahoma State saw its win streak snapped at the hands of North Texas, 3-1, in Denton, Texas on Sept. 13. Melissa Wykes scored the Cowgirls lone goal of the game off a penalty kick in the second half as the Lady Eagles, ranked eighth in the Central Region won their fourth consecutive game.
About Oklahoma: Oklahoma is 4-2 on the season after defeating Houston, 4-3, on Sept. 13. The Sooners are led in scoring by sophomore midfielder Heather Morrison who has scored four goals with three assists for 11 points.
OSU holds a 2-0 series advantage over OU and defeated the Sooners, 1-0 in overtime last season. Forward Andrea Larsen netted the game winner at the 105:45 mark to give the Cowgirls the win. In both teams inaugural season in 1996, OSU came away with a convincing 5-1 win at the OSU Soccer Complex.
About Southwest Missouri State: Southwest Missouri State is 1-3 on the year after falling to TCU, 1-0, on Sept. 15. The Lady Bears are led in scoring by junior midfielder Jenny Albers who has netted two goals for four points in four games.
The Cowgirls will be looking for revenge after falling to Southwest Missouri State, 1-0, last season in Springfield, Mo. OSU won the first meeting between the two schools by a 2-1 count in 1996.
Cowgirl Notes: OSU is 0-1-1 in conference openers ... Andi Lute recorded the first multi-goal game of her career in the win over Houston ... OSU has outscored its opponents by a 8-5 margin this season ... The Cowgirls have not been shutout in their last 10 contests ... OSU has won 10 out of their last 14 games ... Oklahoma State is 14-5-1 in non-conference games ... Oklahoma State students receive free popcorn and a coke with their ID on Friday ... On Sunday, any fan who brings a ticket stub from the OSU-Mississippi State football contest, gets in free.
Hamilton Playing Tough: Starting defender Emily Hamilton has played the last two games with a broken arm, suffered in the 2-1 win over Arkansas on Sept. 6. Hamilton broke her left arm and currently has a cast on it, but has not missed a game due to the injury. After starting the first two games of the year, she came off the bench against Houston and played a significant amount of minutes. She came back to start in the loss to North Texas last Sunday. Hamilton, a freshman from Dallas, Texas, will play with the cast for at least two to three more weeks.
