Women's Soccer Falls to #25 Texas A&M

STILLWATER, Okla. - The Oklahoma State women's soccer team (7-8-2, 1-6-2 Big 12) battled No. 25 Texas A&M (12-6-0, 7-2-0 Big 12) to a 2-2 halftime tie before eventually falling to the powerful Aggies, 5-2, Friday evening at the OSU Soccer Complex.
The Cowgirls opened the scoring when Missy Moss took a cross feed from Andi Lute and scored past the Texas A&M goalkeeper at the 4:49 mark.
The Aggies responded 13 minutes later when Michelle Royal scored off an Emily Elias assist to even the score. Texas A&M then took the lead at the 21:05 mark on a goal by Alison Peters past the outstretched OSU keeper.
OSU responded when midfielder Melissa Wykes scored at the 38:02 mark to tie the game at 2-2. Wykes ninth goal of the season came by virtue of a penalty kick, her third successful attempt this season in as many tries.
Nicky Thrasher, Sharon Pickering and Katie Offutt scored three second half goals for A&M which outhshot the Cowgirls 12-2 in the second half and 23-5 for the entire game.
Oklahoma State will end its 1998 campaign this Sunday, Nov. 1, when the Cowgirls host the University of Texas at 1 p.m.
Cowgirl seniors Melissa Caldwell, Chrystal Emerson, Emily Morgan and Melissa Wykes will be honored in a special pre-game ceremony prior to Sunday's match. In addition, all fans that bring a ticket stub from the Texas A&M-Oklahoma State football game on Saturday get in for free.
