Women's Soccer Edges Sooners in Overtime, 2-1

STILLWATER, Okla. - Sophomore Andi Lute scored the game winning goal at the 98:58 mark in overtime, as Oklahoma State upended Oklahoma, 2-1, Friday afternoon at the OSU Soccer Complex.
Lute scored her third goal of the season off an assist from Mercy Morrical, as the Cowgirls won for third time in as many meetings over the Sooners.
Senior midfielder Melissa Wykes opened the scoring, taking a Kindel Fenscke assist and hitting a rocket shot over the OU goalkeepers head.
Oklahoma responded eight minutes later when Jonette Coquat scored off assists from Allison Hunt and Heather Morrison, to tie the score at 1-1.
Both teams were held scoreless in the second half, with Oklahoma State outshooting Oklahoma 7-3.
Oklahoma State won its first conference opener in the three-year history of the program and moved to 4-1 overall on the year.
The loss snapped a two-game win streak for the Sooners who fell to 4-3 overall and 0-1 in Big 12 play.
This was the second year in a row that the "Bedlam Battle" has gone into overtime, with the Cowgirls coming away with a 1-0 victory last season.
The contest set a new school record with 650 people in attendance.
The Cowgirls will be back in action on Sunday, Sept. 20 at 1 p.m. when they host Southwest Missouri State at the OSU Soccer Complex.
