STILLWATER, Okla. - Forward Erin Grimsley scored at the 93:53 minute mark in overtime, as Missouri defeated Oklahoma State, 3-2, Sunday afternoon in Big 12 soccer action at the OSU Soccer Complex. The loss snapped OSU's eight game unbeaten streak at home and was the Cowgirls' first loss in conference play this season.
Oklahoma State battled back from a 2-0 halftime deficit to score two goals in the last 20 minutes of the second half to send the game into overtime.
"If our kids can find a way to stay focused and play up to their capabilities for a full game, then we will be winning these games rather than taking them into overtime," said OSU head coach Karen Hancock.
Missouri opened the scoring at the 7:29 mark in the first half when Stephanie Brennan scored her first goal of the season off an assist by Erin Grimsley, giving the Tigers a 1-0 lead. Kristen Boeker would add a goal at the 28 minute mark off an assist by Nikki Thole to give Missouri a 2-0 halftime advantage.
OSU forward Missy Moss scored on a header off a Heather Hartsein cross with 18 minutes remaining to cut the Missouri advantage to 2-1. Hartstein would then tie the game with less than six minutes remaining in regulation, after her shot was deflected by the Tiger goalkeeeper and a defender and rolled in.
The match was the fourth straight overtime match for the Cowgirls who have gone 0-2-2 during that span. All four conference games have also gone into extra time this season .
OSU will hit the road for four straight games beginning with an Oct. 16 matchup against Texas Tech at 4 p.m.
