Vaughn Sets Cowgirl Long-Jump Record

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Oklahoma State men's and women's track and field teams finished day one of the Big 12 Outdoor Track Championships with some individual highlight performances.
Junior Cowgirl long jumper Melody Vaughn broke the OSU long-jump record with a jump of 19 feet, 9.75 inches, good for third place in the league meet. Vaughn, who bested the previous school record of 19-5.5, set by teammate Tina Nixon, was also one of five competitors who outdistanced the previous Audrey J. Walton Stadium record of 19-8.
In very early team standings, the Cowboys were in second place and the Cowgirls were sixth. The conference meet concludes Saturday.
