Two Men's Track Athletes Qualify for NCAA Championships

PALO ALTO, Calif. - Nathaniel Lane and Ren Carlsen of Oklahoma State's men's track team finished in the top 15 and automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 10,000 meter late Saturday night here at the 1999 Stanford Invitational.
Lane finished in 11th place with a time of 29:01.17, while Carlsen came in 14th in 29:08.31. The duo surpassed the mark of 29:10.00 needed to reach the NCAA meet June 3-6. Both of the Cowboys set career records during the race. Lane's previous best was 29:47, while Carlsen's was 29:28.
Also in the 10,000m, Gitogo Churu was just 10 seconds away from provisionally qualifying for nationals with his 34th-place, 30:05.73 finish. The provisional qualifying time is 29:55.00.
Wake Forest's Nolan Swanson won the 10,000m race in 28:31.51.
Next weekend, the Cowboys head to the Missouri Southern Invitational on April 2 in Joplin, Mo.
