STILLWATER, Okla. -- Oklahoma State went through its first major football scrimmage of the spring Saturday afternoon with highlights on both sides of the ball.
Offensively, the Cowboys were paced by quarterback Chris Chaloupka and wide receiver Terrance Richardson. Chaloupka completed 14 of 21 passes for 167 yards and one touchdown.
Richardson was on the receiving end of two of Chaloupka's passes, including one that went for a 60-yard touchdown. The Chaloupka-to-Richardson touchdown strike was OSU's second touchdown of the afternoon.
The Cowboys' first score came on the very first drive of the scrimmage. OSU's offense marched 80 yards on the second team defense and scored on a two-yard run by tailback Nathan Simmons.
"At times I thought we were pretty sharp," said OSU Head Coach Bob Simmons. "I liked the offensive execution on the first drive. The emphasis today was trying to get our passing game going and see who would come through."
Freshman quarterback Tony LIndsay did not participate in Saturday's scrimmage as he continues to recover from laser surgery on his heart last week. Defensive back Ricky Thompson was also held out of Saturday's scrimmage with a sore ham string.
Lindsay is expected to return to drills Tuesday, when the Cowboys next return to the practice field. OSU's schedule for next week calls for a padless practice Tuesday and a full-pad workout on Thursday. OSU will stage a major scrimmage next Saturday at Taft Stadium in Oklahoma City beginning at 1:30 p.m.
