STILLWATER, Okla. - No. 19 Oklahoma State (1-0) was limited to only one hit in suffering its first loss of the season, 1-0 against Oregon State (5-3) at the San Diego Classic Thursday night in San Diego, Calif.
Oregon State scored the only run of the game off a RBI single by shortstop Troy Schader in the top of the first inning.
The only Cowboy hit came in the fifth inning when leftfielder Chris Becerra hit a triple to rightfield that hit the fence and barely missed going out of the park.
Starter Dale Pearson (0-1) took the loss despite striking out six Beavers and limiting them to five hits in four and a third innings.
Oregon State starter B.R. Cook (2-1) pitched the complete-game one hitter and only faced two batters over the minimum.
The game was the first time Oklahoma State was shutout since an 8-0 loss to Texas A&M on March 13, 1998.
Oklahoma State will be back in action tommorrow evening when the Pokes take on host San Diego State at 7 p.m. PST.
