FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Junior Missy Moss scored the game winning goal with five minutes remaining to lift Oklahoma State (2-0) to a 2-1 win over the University of Arkansas (1-2) Sunday afternoon at Lady Razorback Field.
The Cowgirls rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit to record their fifth consecutive victory and ninth win in their last 12 games.
Head coach Karen Hancock believed her team showed character by rallying to win the contest.
"Our girls showed a lot of heart today by coming back from a 1-0 deficit to win. At halftime we told the girls that they were still in the game and that they just came out flat early in the first half. We were able to come back and show that we could play with this team just before halftime and we carried that momentum into the second half. The early goal in the second half really helped us out, because it put us right back in the game."
Arkansas forward Brittany Burns opened the contest with a breakaway goal at the 5:24 mark to give the Lady Razorbacks an early 1-0 lead.
Oklahoma State scored 56 seconds into the second half when sophomore Kindel Fenscke took a Moss pass and looped a shot past the Arkansas goalkeeper from 15 yards out.
Moss' goal occurred at the 84:26 mark when she managed to control a deflected shot by Andrea Larsen and shoot it in from five yards out.
Cowgirl goalie Chrystal Emerson recorded five saves while allowing one goal on 18 shots.
Oklahoma State will host the University of Houston in the Cowgirls home opener on Friday, September 11 at 7 p.m. at the OSU Soccer Complex.
