STILLWATER, Okla. -- Quarterback Tony Lindsay ran for two touchdowns and passed for another as the Offense posted a 33-29 win over the defense in Oklahoma State's Orange-White Football Game Saturday afternoon on Lewis Field.
The defense led early thanks to a 47-yard return of a fumble by linebacker Dewayne Levels. In a system that awarded the defense points for stops, interceptions, fumbles and blocked kicks, the defensive unit led 18-13 at the half but fell victim to 20 second-half points by the offense.
Lindsay, the 1997 Big 12 Conference Freshman of the Year, scored two rushing touchdown on runs of six and four yards and found Willie Grissom on a 24-yard touchdown strike in the fourth quarter that helped ice the win for the offensive unit.
For the afternoon, Lindsay completed nine of 18 for 180 yards. He also threw one interception. Tailback Jamaal Fobbs was the leading rusher with 92 yards on 17 carries. Justin Matthews scored the other rushing touchdown for the offense on an 11-yard run in the initial quarter.
Terrance Richardson was the game's leading receiver with two catches for 65 yards while Ethan Howell had four catches for 38 yards and a touchdown.
Defensively the Pokes were paced by Levels who had 12 tackles to go along with his long fumble return for a touchdown. He also had a sack and another tackle for a one-yard loss.
Saturday's scrimmage marked the end of spring drills for Oklahoma State. The Cowboys, who finished 8-4 and ranked 25th in the country a year ago, will go into their off-season conditioning program getting ready for their September 12 season opener at Tulsa.
