NOTES
Oklahoma State Head Coach Tom Holliday:
"Today, these kids made me love college baseball. When kids come up to me
saying, 'coach, give me one inning and if you don't like it, take me out,'
you gotta love it."
"To take two here today is great because we feel we didn't give a good showing at the Big 12 tournament."
Oklahoma State pitcher Rusty Rushing:
On pitching against former high school teammate Marc Bluma
"We talked about it and said it would benice to have a showdow. He pitched
well, but this is sweet."
On OSU's pitching plan in the night game
"Whoever had gas left in the tank was going to go. Whoever was sore during
catch was on the shelf, and whoever wasn't was going to play."
Wichita State Head Coach Gene Stephenson:
"We got beat by a better team. They played tremendous baseball, and we
didn't make the defensive plays we usually make."
"This team has overcome a lot and today I'm proud of Wichita State baseball because we never gave up. This is the best I've ever seen an Oklahoma State team play, and I mean that sincerely."
"It was a courageous pitching effort by Oklahoma State. They pitched well and everyone from Oklahoma State need to be proud of what they accomplished today."
Wichita State shortstop Kevin Hooper:
"We played our hearts off, and I take my hat off to OSU and wish them the
best of luck down the road."
"Last year we rolled through the regular season and rolled over, but we showed up this weekend and played our guts off, but unfortunately Oklahoma State came out on top."
