STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's men's track teams opens up its 1999 indoor season as it heads to the Wildcat Invitational in Manhattan, Kan.
The Cowboys and host Kansas State join fellow Big 12 school Nebraska and Wichita State at the event.
The meet starts Saturday for the Cowboys with field events at 2 p.m. and track events starting at 4:30 p.m.
"This is our first meet, and we're just back in school," OSU coach Dick Weis said. "We're only going to have four practices going in to the meet, so we'll see what happens. It'll be like a curtain raiser for us."
Returning Big 12 champion Brian Young will head up the Cowboys in the 3,000m, while All-American Chuck Sloan will compete in the mile and the 1,000m.
Seniors Rene' Carlsen and Nathaniel Lane will both compete in the mile, with Carlsen also in the 1,000m and Lane in the 800m.
Football players Jamaal Fobbs and Justin Matthews will compete in the 55m.
OSU next heads to Fayetteville, Ark., for the Bank of Fayetteville meet Jan. 23.
